2015-SFBBO-Snowy-Plover-Release
Photos taken with Karine Tokatlian, SFBBO biologist during the release of Snowy Plover chicks that were raised by Monterey Bay Aquarium. These chicks were from a set of eggs from a nest that was abandoned by the parents for some reason.
So the eggs were incubated by Monterey Bay Aquarium and one the chicks could fly and protect themselves, they were released to same location where the original nest was. The location is not accessible to general population and is in the Edenlanding Ecological Preserve in Hayward, CA, USA. In 2015, 90 breeding pairs of Snowy Plovers were recorded at this location.
